Fonts can not be displayed correctly

Postby gaojicainiao » Feb 19th, '22, 16:58

I am a Chinese user. So I use Chinese language as system environment.
When I use gimp change text font when designing a picture, it can only display font style of "Sans" and no others take effects even if I select "Serif".
It also occurs on Web browser like firefox. It can only display Sans. The Chinese characters are also can only be displayed in one font.
It also occurs in live mode. Yes, without installing.

But when I choose English when booting. Fonts work normally. I may try reinstall it choosing English.

Thank you. I love Mageia very much! It is the best distribution for Chinese users.

One more problem

Postby gaojicainiao » Feb 20th, '22, 07:02

It is my third post, maybe the second post is not available to see for now.

(If I choose format as Chinese, both Chinese text font and English text font can not be changed.)

If I choose format as English, then I can change English text font between Sans and Serif. But when I change between Chinese Sans and Chinese Serif, it doesn't work for Chinese characters, only work for English characters. (Most of Chinese font files contain English characters.)

If I choose format as Default, then both Chinese text font and English text font can be changed correctly. But...Desktop application's menu and many applications' UI menu changed to English. I have moved Chinese on the top in system language menu. But it doesn't work even if I log in again. And when I set language to Chinese in one single application such as GIMP and Kate, it doesn't work too even if I log in again or reboot system.

When I choose format as Default, Chinese characters in Konsole's output text turn to “?”. Sorry, I turn to Debian for now. But I still love Mageia. Without font problem, it is the best OS for me.

The picture which you are showing is only for regional settings like currency/time/date notation and so on. In Plasma systemsettings you should be able to change all the settings under "Fonts". I can't check this because i'm not speaking chinese so i would be a little bit lost in the settings. If you really can't change the Fonts then you should maybe open a bugreport for this.
