0ad crashes desktop on kernel 5.15

Postby Mijzelf » Feb 15th, '22, 19:37

Since a few months starting 0ad will crash the desktop. The terminal switches back to textmode for a short while, and then back to graphical login. Journald doesn't log any cause, only the results:
Code: Select all
Feb 15 16:47:39 localhost.localdomain mgaapplet[3223]: Packages are up to date
Feb 15 17:32:43 localhost.localdomain xfce4-screensav[2605]: xfce4-screensaver: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
Feb 15 17:32:43 localhost.localdomain pulseaudio[2710]: X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).
Feb 15 17:32:44 localhost.localdomain systemd[2398]: pulseaudio.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Feb 15 17:32:44 localhost.localdomain systemd[2398]: pulseaudio.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.

I started 0ad @17:32:42, or something like that.

When I start the laptop with an old kernel (5.10?) it works, but since a few days I only have 5.15 kernels in grub left. My laptop runs the xfce4 desktop, if that matters.

Maybe tell as a little bit about your hardware with:
Code: Select all
inxi -GmCSM

Than maybe the content from /var/log/Xorg.0.log (this is the Xorg log from your last session). And also .xsession-errors from your home directory.

Seems to be a problem with either DRI or mesa with the newer kernels, or maybe with the intel driver itself:

If you have any other application which requires OpenGL and/or hardware acceleration and which runs fine, then I'd suggest to report this as a bug against X server: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly

Is there a way to know if an application meets that requirements? The examples on https://threejs.org/examples/#webgl_animation_keyframes work fine (in Firefox). I *think* it uses hardware acceleration, seeing my processor load. But how to know?

@doktor5000: Output of glxinfo attached.

@morgano: Unfortunately not. After upgrading&rebooting the problem was still there.
