MATE - switch double to single click[Solved]

Postby nematoad » Jan 25th, '22, 18:33

I've just moved to Mageia from another distro and so far things are looking good.

There is one small problem that is irritating me. I dislike having to double-click to open files and run programs, I find it counter-intuitive that I can single click on web sites and within programs but when I return to the desktop it's back to double-clicking.

Can anyone tell me if there is a setting I can change that makes the UI more consistent? I have been unable to find one and in my old distro the Control Centre did expose a setting but not here.

Thanks

Hi there and welcome to Mageia :)

That is not offered in the Mageia Control Center, because that totally depends on what desktop environment you use. So what do you use? KDE (Plasma), GNOME, XFCE, ... ?

For KDE you can change this in systemsettings5 > workspace behaviour > general behaviour > click behaviour.

Thanks for your reply.

I am using MATE as I I already have my UI set up for that desktop.

Previously I could set the mouse to single-click through my old distros control centre but that is not available here.

Is there a setting in CAJA that I could use? It seems as if CAJA is the place where the double-click bit is enforced, not in the rest of the system.

I found the switch!

It's in Control Centre> File Manager Preferences>Behaviour>Behaviour>Single Click

Good, now I can go on about my business without opening three or four instances of Palemoon. Which is what I did more than once.

Happy!
