restic for Mageia ? (backup software)

Postby vmunich » Sep 25th, '21, 22:36

Hi everyone,

I recently came across restic, a backup software than can be installed on a multitude of platforms.

Is there a rpm for restic for Mageia ?
I could not find it.

Best,
Vincent

There's no package for Mageia. Although you could try with the Fedora or PCLinuxOS packages. Have a look at https://pkgs.org/search/?q=restic
But they also offer binaries: https://github.com/restic/restic/releases

That program looks nice :)
If you have not decided yet, there are other backup tools/programs/systems fouls if you search "backup" among Mageia packages.
Bareos https://www.bareos.com/ also look nice, i made a package request.
But i admit i presently just run manual full filesystem backups myself...

I do a scripted backup. I have used the same mechanism (it has evolved somewhat, but same basic mechanism) for a couple of decades now. It is reliable and easy. Its downside is that you have to script it.
