[SOLVED] dual boot issues

Postby indigo88 » Mar 21st, '21, 17:16

I just installed mageia 8 from a live usb on a laptop with windows 10.
The problem is that after restarting grub doesn't appear, and windows boots as usual. I'm able to enter mageia only from the boot menu that opens when clicking f9.
I already upgraded grub and disabled secure boot in windows, but there are no improvements. I also tried to change the boot order, but it seems there isn't that option.
Anybody has an idea of how to solve it?

Could you post the output as root of
Code: Select all
efibootmgr -v
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

There are some developments: I ran the command mv /boot/EFI/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi /boot/EFI/EFI/Microsoft/bootmgfw.efi
Now grub opens when starting the computer, but windows is not shown...

You have now to rerun the grub2 (Bootloader) configuration to find Windows. You can do this also via MCC. You have to tick the box "Probe other OS"
