[SOLVED] Missing tesseract-gui.py

Postby Erik » May 30th, '20, 16:24

today I installed Tesseract on a bran new Mageia 7.1 installation. When I tried to run it, I got this error:

KDEInit kon 'tesseract-gui.py' niet opstarten:
Kon bibliotheek 'libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py' niet openen.
Cannot load library libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py: (libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py: kan gedeeld objectbestand niet openen: Bestand of map bestaat niet)

Translated back tot English:

KDEInit could not start 'tesseract-gui.py':
could not open the library 'libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py'.
Cannot load library libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py: (libkdeinit5_tesseract-gui.py:
cannot open shared object file: File or folder does not exist.

I searched for 'tesseract-gui.py' in the repositories, but I cannot find it. Neither can I find 'libkdeinit5'.

What is missing in this new installation?

Greetings,

Erik Jan.

Which packages did you install in particular, and what did you run in particular? Because tesseract itself is a commandline-only tool.

Available GUI's from our repositories include cuneiform-qt, yagf and ocrfeeder

Dear Doktor,

The new installation has a home directory from an earlier installation of Mageia that had "tesseract-gui.py" in the menu and in the starter on the desktop. This why I searched for the fiele "tesseract-gui.py". I installed tesseract wiithout closely looking at the fies to be installed.

I had a lood, installed "ocrfeeder" and removed the references to tesseract in the menu and on the desktop.

thank you for your help.
