WordNet - orphaned package?

Postby zugunder » Sep 6th, '11, 04:04

Hi all,

I installed WordNet and it seem to work fine, but it automatically gets into orphaned package list. I guess it's because it usually installed as a part of Calligra suite... but as I mentioned above, you can install it separately and use without any problems... till you run urpme --auto-orphans and hit Enter ;-).
Could it be fixed somehow?

Thank you.

Yes, it can be fixed, either run urpmi wordnet to remove it from the orphans list or don't run urpme --auto-orphans. Plain and simple.

Doctor5000,
urpmi wordnet
But isn't it the same if I install it using MCC? In this case it is still identified as an orphan.

I understood you installed Calligra, and WordNet got pulled in as a dependency? That is not the same.
When you would have installed WordNet directly in MCC, it should never be marked as an orphan.
FWIW, could you try what i have posted? urpmi wordnet and then look again for urpme --auto-orphans
output, wordnet shouldn't be there anymore. If it still is, that would be a bug.

OK, so the situation is:
urpmi wordnet - installed and not auto-orphaned.
If installed from MCC - it appears in the orphans list.
Looks like it is a MCC's bug.

For reference, could you please always post the link to the bugreport?
I've done that for you: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2649
