Dash-to-dock

Postby glenr » Nov 10th, '19, 17:07

Hi guys.
Does anybody know how to install dash-to-dock on Mageia?
I checked repo - no such package.
I also downloaded it from micheleg.github.io and compiled, but in vain.
The package seems installed, but it's missing in Tweaks -> Extensions.
Reboot doesn't help too.
Any ideas?

Website in your URL also showed 404.
new URL: https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock/

However, the best place to get an answer and also fix it at the same time is to go back to the upstream source.
They will have the best answer, and at the same time, if there is something to fix, they can add it so everyone benefits.

Why did you compile it ? https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock/download.html says

Extension website
The easiest and suggested way to install and keep the extension updated is through the official Gnome Shell Extensions site.

Also, what Mageia release are you trying this on, 7 ?

I've just tried the installation, and that works as described in manual installation, but it cannot be enabled, it shows an error, the error message can be seen in Looking Glass.
After following the troubleshooting hints at https://micheleg.github.io/dash-to-dock ... greporting and running gnome-shell --replace this is the actual error message:

GNOME Shell-Message: 10:18:08.730: Extension "dash-to-dock@micxgx.gmail.com" had error: TypeError: GObject.registerClass() used with invalid base class (is PopupBaseMenuItem)

As mentioned, you should probably report this upstream at https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues
