[SOLVED] dracut looks for a non-existent disk

I changed my partition layout, which involved formatting all partitions. initrd now looks for a non-existent disk UUID, and drops me to a dracut shell. I reinstalled the system (old Windoze habit,) but nothing was changed. I can log in to runlevel 3 using the Super Grub Boot Disk and start X normally. I tried running "dracut -f" but the error remains. The "missing" partition is not mentioned in /etc/fstab, my previous /etc/fstab or in grub.cfg.

The problem comes from the current 4.9.43-desktop-1.mga6. Others have had graphics issues as well. With the 4.9.35-desktop-1.mga6 kernel, after creating a new initrd, I can reboot normally while running the RPM driver for nVidia.

What does the UUID change have to do with graphics issues? Also, if you did reinstall, and you still have the same problem with the UUID then the issue comes from the bootloader that you start Mageia with, not the one that Mageia installed. So not much point looking into the grub.cfg of Mageia, as that also has been reinstalled.

I was able to upgrade to the .43 kernel in my previous install, and couldn't configure my nVidia card. Jim Beard had a similar thing happen, but his kernel numbers were different. O.K., that should be a separate thread.

My two issues occurred together after a reinstall, and both were fixed by going back to the old kernel. I can only see if the next kernel release is any better. If that is a complete cure, everything points to the kernel version.

Windows 10 just posted a BIG update. It trashed my Mga installation, but left Fedora intact (conspiracy theories, anyone?)

On the reinstall. I had no problems getting nvidia to work with kernel 4.9.43-desktop.
