polkit wants root

Lately, I have been having an issue when I reboot my workstation, and because of a problem in the video system, I have been forced to reboot far more often than I like to.

When the system restarts and I log in, I get a requester asking for my root password.

The attached screenshot shows the requester.

What should I do about this? I have been clicking it away because I simply won't enter my root password for a requester whose purpose is not clearly understood.
