64 Gb SD card problem [Resolved]

I've searched the forum with regard to this problem, and found no references. The problem:- I'm having problems with accessing data on a 64Gb SD card. Connecting this by USB always comes up with the message that the system cannot mount the card. This is only with a 64 Gb card, all other cards with less capacity, of the same type, and by the same manufacturer mount without problems. I've tried two different SD card adaptors, but both result in the same message. On Googling the problem in the open field, there are a number of posts referencing Ubuntu, with the same problem, but I'm not sure whether they relate to my problem. This is on a 64 bit AND machine, running Mga5

What filesystem is on that card? If it was formatted using windows, probably will be exfat, but to verify please run fdisk -l on the device

fdisk information, as below, seemingly exfat.

Do you have other devices formatted with exfat? What do the other SD cards use?

A 32Gb disk, by the same manufacturer (Samsung), which does work i fisk -l returns:-

The solution appears to be to install fuse-exfat, which is in the Mageia5 repository. Armed with the information that it might be an exfat problem, I googled on that premise. An entry under the Fedora distro suggested installing fuse-exfat as a solution. A search in the Mga repository found such a package. I installed it and it works. Thje 64Gb card mounts and is readable (and presumably writable). I'll try it later and if it is so, I'll mark the thread as closed It's a little strange that this package is not installed as a default. 64 Gb SD cards cannot be that uncommon. I can see, now, why the card, which I bought originally for my Android phone, did not work in that device

Well, thanks for trying. At least we have a positive conclusion (and a simple one). I'll have to remember it for Mga 6
