Putting Mageia 4 onto HP Stream 11

Postby PaulBennett » Jun 18th, '15, 17:53

The HP Stream 11 is a small notebook/laptop that has an 11.6" screen. As sold by the retailer it comes with Windows 8 (hateful though that is).

When I tried to place Mageia 4 onto the device it locked up with the following displayed.

6.2725271 pnp 00:09: can't evaluate _CRS: 1

My attempt was from a freshly created ISO on USB stick which worked on another system OK.

Has anyone managed the install onto this device already?

Will I need a different ISO to accomplish the feat?

That message by itself is not an issue.

What ISO did you use, and did you verify the md5sum for that after downloading?

I used Mageia-4.1-LiveDVD-KDE4-x86_64-DVD.iso and, yes, I did check the checksums after downloading.

The ISO worked on a similar grade of tablet without problems (Acer Iconia W700). I was just wondering if
I should have had a different one (in which case which one) and if anyone else had attempted it. Would
really hate having to be forced back to Windows 8.

Different Mageia 4 one would not make much of a difference, although you could try one of the installation images.
And you should try one of the Mageia 5 RC live or installation images for comparison: https://www.mageia.org/5/

But for that message with the current image, I'd suggest to test some different boot options, like forcing it to use a different graphics driver and playing
with some other common kernel boot options: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootO ... el_Options

In Grub bootmenu press F6 then select -> Default and then append one of those in the input line that appears.
