Query about Mageia apps

I am looking for the following kinds of apps, as reflected by their Windows names, that were not immediately identifiable in the repositories, if they are there. Preferably these should be on a par with freebies from Cnet for Windows. Anybody have any suggestions for apps to fulfill needs? And information about where they are and how I install them with a minimum of effort, as I am a noob to terminals?

1. ABC Chaos File encryption for hard drive storage (I don't use the cloud).

2. PDF making and editing (note that my clients formally require Adobe, but I don't know if there is a way to tell the difference).

3. Scanner driver - pdf/tiff maker using an old fashioned flatbed that uses a parallel port

4. Google Earth

5. Duplicate Photo Finder (as opposed to a duplicate file finder that can only find an exact match, DPF can match up identical or very similar photos by appearance).

6. Fax suite allowing incoming faxes to be forwarded to me by email and forwards incoming email as outgoing faxes, similar to the paid service Jfax.

7. Pandora music

1. Look at dm-crypt if you are asking about full-disk encryption. Look at gpg and variants if you want file-based encryption. Truecrypt is also available, but no longer supported. There are others.

2. LibreOffice will export PDF files...and it will import Word (and many other) documents. There is also PDF Studio (which is a Java app), but it is a paid product. Bound to be others, but Libreoffice works for my needs.

3. You would have to specify the scanner before we could tell you if a driver exists. A driver probably DOES exist, but for something that old it might not have been kept up to date, meaning it might not load in a current kernel. Don't know. As for scanner software, there are many choices. Look at xsane, Acquireimages, and many others.

4. Google Earth. 'Nuff said.

For the others I can't really help you because you are asking about functionality that I don't use. I have not sent or received a fax in years, but when I last did that I used efax (an online service) that worked just fine with Linux and did the things you want to do.

For Windows, you will have downloaded from the "Google Earth download " site.
Normally, for Windows users, the internet browser will make the determination of which "variety" of Google Earth to download. [ Windows or Linux]
In the Linux world, broadly, there are two software streams, .deb and .rpm, and unfortunately they are not compatible with each other.
The software that runs on top of the system: browsers, office suite...etc, have been ported to the various options : .deb32, .deb64, .rpm32, .rpm64
So your browser, while relatively smart, can tell the Google Earth site, that you are running Windows or Linux, it isn't smart enough to let the site know the underlying type of Linux. This is where you come in and make a choice.
If you wish to download software for use on Mageia- .rpm based Linux, make sure you choose the "Fedora / OpenSuse .rpm package when prompted. eg: http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html, go right to the bottom of the page.
Also unless you have a pressing reason to utilise the 64Bit version of something, the 32Bit version will usually suffice.
