[SOLVED] Distribution Upgrade?

I just installed the beta from dvd as an upgrade and opted at post-install to get the updates- but (!) it is downloading 658 packages which seems a lot ? Is that expected behaviour?

Yes. Today I made a fresh install of Beta1. After setting up the media sources I received an update of more than 700 packages. Don't forget that the status of the ISOs is at least 12 or 13 days old (Beta1 release was April 5th) and Mageia is in very active development stage.

Thanks for your reply. I've never seen so many updates just after downloading the dvd before - but then I've never been at the beginning of a distro before! It does all look good now though, considering.

I tried the upgrade from alpha deliberately because I have never had a successful upgrade previously with Mandrake/Mandriva: early days yet but it seems to be ok so far.
