Kompozer crashy

Postby varun_saa » Feb 18th, '14, 08:00

Hello ,

Kompozer is crashy and is simply unusable.

If you right click or try to use the menus it
just crashes .

I don't know if anybody else faced the same problem.

In Mageia 3 it worked Ok.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Why don't you open a bugreport for it? Simply put the error message in there that can be seen when starting kompozer from a terminal, that you get when you right-click.
Code: Select all
The program 'gecko' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 11771 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

But probably cannot be fixed, as kompozer is dead since a long time.
See https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12734 for other issues with kompozer.
Even bluegriffon seems to suffer from the same bugs.

Or simply use some software that is being maintained / still under active development.

I was actually refering to bluegriffon and as you say and as i experienced, it has the same problem. So, there is no need to give some stupid answers and accuse the users of stupidness. Mageia 4 is crap and i'm not the only one that says this.

p.s.
Doktor, this is personally to you (we already had the pleasure before): please do never ever answer me anymore! I prefer no answer like in most of bug reports i post than an answer from you. Thank You!

Egc please!!!!!!!!

What in heavens name makes you so upset.
I don't see any reason for reacting in such an immature way.
And besides; if you want to have personal communication with anyone, please use the right tools, like PM'ing and stop spamming the forum with this, right???

If you don't like replies, then simply do not post in the first place.
Frankly speaking, with statements like in viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2078 and openly cursing on Mageia without much reason, what do you expect?
If you think Mageia is crap, then feel free to post somewhere else, but don't bug others. This was the last friendly reminder.

Just for protocol to the others:

doktor5000 wrote:If you don't like replies, then simply do not post in the first place.

I didn't say i don't like replies, i said i don't like replies from doktor(faustus)
doktor5000 wrote:Frankly speaking, with statements like in viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2078 and openly cursing on Mageia without much reason, what do you expect?

Well, repeating something that is not true for monts, at least for me doesn't make much sense (if doktor faustus read the thread at all ...).
doktor5000 wrote:If you think Mageia is crap, then feel free to post somewhere else, but don't bug others.

I didn't say Mageia is crap, i said (and not only me) Mageia 4 is crap (i was very happy with Mageia 3!).
But this is just the type of answers doktor faustus alway gives ...

As anyone might sense, the reminder made by doktor5000, is in no way a case of black-mailing.
Everybody known to the forum knows the straight and sincere approach by the dok.

In an earlier reply in this topic i tried to get everybody on track again.
But it seemed necessary to bring up other measures to reach this goal.

A ban has been issued for ONE week.

Back on-topic again, please.

FWIW, in the meantime there have been some replies on https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12734 leading to two workarounds for the issues with kompozer / bluegriffon, and I've added an Errata entry for that:
