[OBSOLETE] How to enable "USB Attached SCSI"?

This forum is dedicated to basic help and support :

Ask here your questions about basic installation and usage of Mageia. For example you may post here all your questions about getting Mageia isos and installing it, configuring your printer, using your word processor etc.

Try to ask your questions in the right sub-forum with as much details as you can gather. the more precise the question will be, the more likely you are to get a useful answer

[OBSOLETE] How to enable "USB Attached SCSI"?

Postby magfan » Mar 4th, '14, 14:15

How can I enable "USB Attached SCSI"? Is it part of a kernel module which I do not load per default? I need it for a PCIe-card with an ASM1051E chip.

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_Attached_SCSI that chip does not support USB attached SCSI.

It seems to me I did not pick out the real problem. The USB chip sits on an internal PCIe-card which is connected to an eSATA/USB3/USB2 PCIe-card with two external multi-ports. Using an external USB3 harddrive on one of these ports gives ~35MB/s (read). This is more or less USB2 speed. But if I connect the same harddisk to another USB3 port (different chip) reading speed is about ~125MB/s which is quite acceptable. But maybe the first USB chip (ASMedia) is not the problem...

If I scan for PCI devices I get the following info:

The last line says: "Kernel driver in use: ahci". But in mcc the chip is listed under unknown hardware and it is said that the used module is "unknown". What can I do?
