Installation problem

Postby maslascher » Nov 13th, '13, 10:10

Hello, i was thinking to give a Mageia a try. But when i'm running pendrive in my computer at the end i see only black screen. I tried install&boot with and without nomodeset option but every time there is the same effect. I make pendrive using dd from Lubuntu, checked twice and every time same result. My specs are Intel G1610 with HD Graphics, 4 gigs of ram and that's i guess all you need to know. Any ideas?
I choosed mageia 3 x86_64 live version but i'm already downloading 4 gigs normal version.

it appears that you have not correctly configured the video driver or it is missing from your pen-drive. this you know.
I am unsure if you are trying to run the live system from your pen-drive or have installed the O/S onto the HDD in your machine.
When you install the system, if the correct driver is not available, the system will usually default to use the vesa driver that is used for the installation slideshow.
If you have installed the O/S, at the configuration screen at the end of the installation, you need to have confirmed that the graphics is correctly set.

Check also to see if your HDD is GPT partitioned.

Hi

The live system should run from disk [ or pen-drive ] as it is just loaded into ram and it should automatically set the correct driver.
could you try burning to disc and see if it will install that way?
