Mageia - icons on desktop ?

I'm new in linux and in Mageia in particular.. so forgive me if my question is a silly one.. but I don't know the answer;
In some other linux I see that we are able to put and work with the icons in the desktop. It seem that it is not possible with Mageia or Is something that I don't now the "how to"?
I'd like to work with applications, files and folders and shortcuts icons that are in the desktop.. Is it possible in Mageia?..
Please , I'd appreciate any help

Surely that's possible. But it depends on what desktop environment you're using. Do you use GNOME or KDE?
For KDE you only need to right-click on the desktop -> "default workspace settings" and select "Folder view" as desktop type.
