First the network error
Second the Shorewall 6 error
Third the rc.local error
Fourth the Winbind error
Fifth the plymouth quit wait service error
Sixth the 'reached target graphical interface' message
Last, have to do a Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get a new session, log in as root, then do an 'init 5' to get to a graphical boot screen

Let me revise that order a bit:

1) Network
2) Winbind
3) Shorewall 6
4) rc.local
5) Plymouth wait for quit
6) Reached Target Graphical User Interface

Dead stop...

Incidentally, I removed NetworkManager. No change in the errors.

1) Network - used chkconfig to turn *off* network, used chkconfig to turn *on* NetworkManager -- SOLVED
2) Winbind - wasn't configured properly, will configure later, removed -- SOLVED
3) Shorewall 6 - working behind a hardened firewall, don't need shorewall, removed - SOLVED
4) rc.local - once 1 above was fixed, moved all drive mappings in rc.local back to /etc/fstab, used chkconfig to turn off rc-local.service -- SOLVED
5) Plymouth wait for quit - have an NVidia graphics card... ran 'dracut -f', rebooted -- SOLVED
6) Reached Target Graphical User Interface - once 5 above was fixed, booted directly into GUI login screen -- SOLVED

On to hamachi, oracle, CIFS, dbus errs etc.

Thanks for the help...
