The accelerometer in HP laptops is supported by the Linux kernel, but the daemon hpfall to park the heads on detection of free fall is not packaged in Mageia.

If you put in a new package request in Bugzilla at bugs.mageia.org then someone who happens to own an HP laptop may package it up for you.
