I have ibus working in kde, with the exception of... qt based applications. That is ibus works fine in a terminal, in a gedit text editor, in firefox, even in skype (glad about this because in ubuntu it doesn't easily from what I read) but not in a konsol or in a kwrite. On this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=105087 , there is some information directly related to my issue. I downloaded ibus-qt with:

urpmi.update -a
urpmi ibus-qt4
Now my questions:
1) if I switch to ibus-qt, will it still work with skype, firefox, and gtk based applications?
2) how to change from ibus to ibus-qt? (I would uninstall ibus from the Mageia control center, but then?)
