I have friends on other forums who are interested in Mageia, but who find Firefox ESR a turnoff. I myself am using the beta channel.
Is there a way to get the latest stable Firefox release?

Sure. Download it, unpack it and run it locally out of your /home directory. You could change the launch icon to point to your local instance, eg change it from /usr/bin to /home/USER/firefox/firefox (or wherever you unpack it to)
