[SOLVED] md5sum & sha1sum of mageia-dual-1.iso

Postby ozcroz » Jun 11th, '11, 20:08

I have downloaded mageia-dual-1.iso from the default location twice and from ibiblio.org once and got the same values for md5 and sha1 sums, namely:

$ md5sum ISOs/mageia-dual-1.iso
bedf0e4aed931d238c61b08ea5d6bb9d ISOs/mageia-dual-1.iso
$ sha1sum ISOs/mageia-dual-1.iso
416d8272a2423fe7a0816786f0189e2320e74958 ISOs/mageia-dual-1.iso

These are different to the values reported on the mageia download page :( , namely:

$ md5sum mageia-dual-1.iso
7574f31cb8429614026a61c50578d863
$ sha1sum mageia-dual-1.iso
427e25a4c8aad56c0a19fae0bbbe085f1fc641ba

I don't think that this is data corruption coincidentally identical on each download. So are the sums quoted on the mageia page correct and the mirror images tarnished, or has the image been changed since the sums were reported on the web site? Or am I missing something :oops: ?

I am reluctant to install until I resolve this, and it is frustrating since I am a returning long term Mandrake user :) .

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

Thanks for your reply and link Jim.
For the benefit of others in the same boat the link given by Jim leads to another link which confirms that the values on the web site are incorrect and the values I reported are the correct sums.
