MCC files in /home directory?

Postby wrw105 » Jan 15th, '13, 17:00

Hi!

I've just run into an odd issue. After an app upgrade (iceape) I am currently unable to bring up MCC under my user account. Trying from KDE or command line prompts for root password, starts to open the window and closes. Under command line, I am informed that drakmenustyle, drakbackup, drakvirt and tomoyo-gui are not executable in line 820 of drakconf.real

So, just for grins, I tried under a different user account and MCC came up without a problem, but still not on the original user account.

So my question is: which files under a user's home directory are used by MCC in startup that could be causing this?

This is under MGA2-32.

Thanks!
Bill

OK, it looks like it's something more fundamental--maybe GTK related?

Gnome won't start at all, nor will lxde. KDE will start, but iceape segfaults on startup as well as the above mentioned MCC issue.

Not sure where to go from here?

Do Gnome/LXDE start for the new user you created Bill?

Hi, Claire!

The other account logs into gnome (as gnome classic since that's where I go in Gnome--haven't put in the time to really learn Gnome3 yet) and LXDE without difficulty, so whatever the problem is with my main account on that machine is in /home

Try renaming your ~/.gconf directory, maybe ~/.gconfd too and log out/in & try MCC again.
If that doesn't work you could also try renaming ~/.config

.gconf, .gconfd and .config -no change. I've been focusing on things that have changed since the time this started. Do directory dates change when files inside are changed? (fwiw i'm using Krusader as file manager)
