[SOLVED] How to remove Orphaned packages

Postby NickC » Jan 17th, '13, 13:05

I notice in Mageia that when I remove packages (using MCC) it notifies me of what orphaned packages it will leave but has no option of removing those orphaned packages.

Is there some command I should be running occasionally to cleanup and remove any orphaned packages?

Thanks,
Nick

There is no reason to remove orphan packages - they do not interfere with the operation of your system. If you do wish to remove them, then read this article (note especially the warnings):

Thanks Jim,

'urpme --auto-orphans'
worked perfectly.

Only found one orphaned kernel-desktop and removed it fine. At least I now know I have no orphaned packages filling up the disk space.

Thanks,
Nick
