I have a Samsung 7 Chronos notebook, and I have installed Mageia 2 64 bit as a bual boot with Win 7 64 bit, recently.
I'm very happy, all the hardware runs well basically out of the box with Mageia 2, even wifi and web cam and all the audio.
The one thing what really bothers me is, some service is turning the hard drive on and off every few seconds,
and that is cauing the system to slow down almost to 0, and even the cursor stops moving.
I've assumed that it's caused by the pover management and I've turned all off in the System Settings - Power Management,
but no change. There was no change even when I setted "Act like a PC running on AC Power".
I have monitored the upower deamon, upower -monitor-detail not it seems that this daemon does nothing, but monitoring the battery and HW. I will try to uninstall this upower deamon, will see what will happen, but will wait at least for a few days for a reply.
I would not mind, if the hard drive is constantly on and system runs on full power, but this hard drive on & off every 5-10 second will kill the hard drive for sure.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Gab
P.s.: There is a small issue with the touchpad driver, but it does not bother me at all, I'm using a mouse.
