can I back up my widgets?

Postby arminius » Aug 9th, '12, 16:45

specifically "plasma-applet-countdown-timer"
I have about 20 of these on my desktop, each with a specific piece of information on them.
is there a specific place on the hard drive this info is placed which I can back up and restore later?

yes, you'll find all these desktop settings in this file:
~.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc
for windows problems reboot; for linux problems be root

well that didn´t work, not only were all my widgets still gone, I lost every single file and folder in my desktop, and on the taskbar.

You've got to hate typo's, the path should have been
Code: Select all
~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc
I'm not sure if you can recover anything but you've learned a lesson.

EDIT: I see you only lost the widgets. :)

Where and how did you back it up, and did you already copy it back, and in that case, how exactly?
