dual-screen support unstable

Postby zebra90210 » Jun 25th, '12, 06:18

Hi,
I have a dual-screen system based on an Nvidia GeForce GT400 card.
The system activates both screens but they both show same thing (they are clones).
When I change it in the control panel, to display one screen "to the right" of the left screen (that's how it's phrased) the dual setup works fine. I get one panoramic desktop, 2880x900
When I log out or reboot the settings are back to a dual clone screen.
How can I lock these settings so they are not forgotten?

thanks

The way I deal with this problem is by using 'nvidia-settings' from a root konsole.
Just open a konsole and su to root, type the command 'nvidia-settings' which will bring up a GUI for you to change the layout of your monitors.
When you have finished you can save the settings to xorg.conf, making your choices permanent.

Make a backup of your current xorg.conf before you start, even though nvidia-settings will make a backup for you.
