Machine became unbootable after upgrade

Postby arelatensis » May 27th, '12, 10:19

I made upgrade, through internet to Mageia. After this the OS does not boot, though upgrade process was ok. I get grub menu, press Mageia2 entry, and all is hanging. Without splash it indicates that machine hangs in the time of detecting devices i. e. windows partition.

systemctl status media win_c. mount
Dependency failed. aborted start of /media/win_c
Dependency failed. aborted start of setup links in /boot for running kernel
Dependency failed. aborted start of Mark the need to relabel after reboot
Dependency failed. aborted start of Relabel all filesystems if necessary

As I know sustemctl is a part of systemd. Any suggestion.

I made also a clean installation, without reformatting /home partition, it results the same

If it is hanging while trying to mount your windows partition I suggest using a liveCD or rescue mode from an installation DVD/CD to comment out that line in /etc/fstab
Hopefully that would allow booting to proceed.

I have done so through Gparted live CD, and more over removed all not Mageia installation entries. In both cases:
Failed. systemctl status default
Next it suggest me enter in root account for emergency mode o press ctrl+D

Just press Ctrl+D the boot should continue then. Happens when filesystems needs checking for errors.

With pressing ctrl+D the boot process continues hanging. I performed checking of filesystems and partition tables also with gparted. These are clean. And had not eni result. There is a moment, one of my HD has GPT. May be it arise trouble? I'm not sure. With Mageia 1 it works fine.
In any case thank
