Oh well so do not worry, I'll help as much as you can. ;)

Greetings:
Agust

Well, I installed e16 just now and I didn't like it so I uninstalled it. But now all my buttons preferences are gone and some of my windows won't respond.

In System Preferences I clicked "Windows". The message:Window manager "unknown" has not registered a configuration tool.

I'm not sure what happened, but I can't get my window buttons back and they don't respons properly under gnome anymore.

Any idea how to fix this??

I found this solution in another forum:
When another Window Manager is installed that gdm adds as an option to run with Gnome, for example e16, selecting the "e16 Gnome" option will cause the normal "Gnome" and "Failsafe Gnome" session options to always use that window manager instead of metacity on future logins. There is no option within gdm to go back to using metacity with Gnome, and the only way I could find to reverse this was to manually edit a line in ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/session/required_components/%gconf.xml to read "metacity" instead of "e16".

It's not e16, it's e17.

And please clarify, what do you mean by "System Preferences" what button preferences do you mean, where did you configure them, and which windows do not respond?

Could it be that you enabled 3D Desktop (aka Compiz) before, which replaces window decoration and maybe it doesn't load properly now?

I downloaded and installed e16 from the enlightenment website not through RPMDrake... Apparently that was a mistake :!: Perhaps this is a bug with e16 and has been fixed in e17?

I don't think I had enabled 3D unless enlightenment did it for me. I clicked on System -> Preferences -> Windows, from the gnome panel and got the error message. I searched for a remedy to the issue someone on another forum had posted to:
manually edit a line in ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/session/required_components/%gconf.xml to read "metacity" instead of "e16"

which did, indeed work for me.

My open programs would not respond to mouse clicks and had to be closed using ctrl+q. When I opened my Appearance Preferences by right-clicking on the background the box was docked in the upper left corner of the screen and would not allow me to move it. None of my programs responded properly to focus when I clicked with the mouse.

I installed task-e17 via RPMDrake and verified that the problem was from using an older (and apparently unadvisable) version of enlightenment.

Thank you for the help and if there is anything else I can do or additional information that may be useful please let me know.

I installed e17 and verified that it worked. I decided that I do not like enlightenment and attempted to remove it through RPMDrake. I uninstalled task-e17, task-e17-minimal, and e17_themes, but when at login I still have the option to choose e17 as the window manager...

After uninstalling embryo and it's dependencies the login screen no longer displays E17 as an option.
