[SOLVED] Calendar for Thunderbird

Postby RoyD » Jan 31st, '12, 07:27

Hi
I installed Lightning 1.02b add-on from MCC. When I start Thunderbird I have a pop up window that says Lighting can import from ......... and then you have a choose to tick Mozilla calendar extension. Click next and it sits there doing nothing for over 30 minutes. The PC I am running is not a slug as per my signature. Do I need to add some other add-on?
Thanks Roy

Just checked after moving away my ~/.thunderbird there is no such question on first thunderbird startup after installing the addon,
only the usual dialog asking you to setup an account (for thunderbird itself, lightning is already working)
Do you use an old thunderbird profile? Is this a fresh Mageia 1 installation, or did you keep an old /home?

And from the dialog which you're referring to, what happens if you don't import any data or just close it?
And for reference, please show the output of:
Code: Select all
rpm -qa | grep thunderbird
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!

The installation of Mageia is fresh but I did copy the profile from the backup from Mandriva.

If I you don't import any data or just close it? The dialog closes, Thunderbird works fine, no calandar

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qa | grep thunderbird
mozilla-thunderbird-lightning-1.0b2-10.mga1
mozilla-thunderbird-3.1.16-1.mga1

From what Mandriva version is that profile? This may be due to an incompatibility against newer Lightning version.
If you start thunderbird from a terminal, what output do you get, in both cases? (1. close dialog, 2. choose to import and wait some seconds)

Also you should maybe have a look for that over at mozillazine forums and also ask there: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=46

I tried from terminal and got
thunderbird
DOUBLE-CLICK: 400 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1 Error: Can't create calendar for ec88f04f-c9bb-4761-93c4-885d68270661 (storage, moz-storage-calendar://): [Exception... "'<error>' when calling method: [calICalendar::id]" nsresult: "0x804a0008 (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/mozilla/extensions/%7B3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6%7D/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///usr/lib/mozilla/extensions/%7B3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6%7D/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calCalendarManager.js :: cmgr_assureCache :: line 793" data: no]

The profile was from Mandriva 2011. Do you think I should reinstall Thunderbird, export the data eg address, emails from Mandriva and then import back into Mageia? I was thinking this could be just the start of problems so best to start wthl a clean slate.

No need to reinstall thunderbird itself, were not in a windows forum here :)

Normally the thunderbird profile itself, without plugins is nicely backwards- and forwards-compatible.
So you should remove the lightning data from your profile, and then import it afterwards, after lightning itself is already working.
You might want to have a look at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Files_and_fol ... hunderbird
Relevant files should be storage.sdb, cookies.sqlite and permissions.sqlite
All other .sdb files should also belong to lightning
