i was attempting to download mageia 1 on monday and the dvd torrent and download
was not working.

Probably connected with
tracker troubles. Did you try "Direct link" download? It should work flawlessly.

The torrent is hosted on linuxtracker.org, which currently seems to have some network issues. But you should be able to directly download the DVD:
http://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/dl.p ... 1-dvd-i586Do you get an error message there, or what's the problem? What mirror does it choose for you?

ok, i just downloaded the dvd for 32 bit systems.
now i am being warned by k3b that size of the file will be 3.3 gigs.
does anybody know if the actually size 3.3 or 3.7

Why don't you just compare the md5sum of your downloaded image to then one shown on the website, which can be done in k3b before starting the burn process?
