[SOLVED] MySQL/Webmin

Postby Will94 » Dec 12th, '11, 23:43

Back in April 2011, I setup a bulletin board system on a Mandriva Powerpack 2010.2 box. The BBS software required a blank database, which I created in Webmin using the MySQL plugin. I know zero about databases. I've since upgraded this machine to Mageia 1, and it's working great.

I need to setup another BBS, this one for work (the other was personal). I've installed Mageia, Webmin, and MySQL. However, when I click 'Servers' in Webmin, 'MySQL Database Server' doesn't show up. I don't remember doing anything special last spring to make it show. I have set a root password for mySQL, but that's about it. I suspect that I am missing something painfully obvious, which is why I've posted here before spending too much effort on the problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Well, I've fixed my own problem. I went into Webmin and clicked 'Refresh Modules' which found the mySQL module. The file locations in that module were completely hosed. They all listed long paths like /usr/local/mysql (something similar, I didn't write them down) when they should have all been under /usr/bin. I fixed those, rebooted just in case, and the module is now there.
