Time is passing by just as in a magical manner, as all those beautiful memories are presented this great way.
Thanks macxi, for me the Mageia2-set has special meanings. Mageia 5 is just awesome, my number two this far.

Hello,
The first Alpha version of Mageia was codenamed " Cantine " (see in the Mageia Blog).
Then, it was no longer given codename for the release of Mageia. I don't advocate that has code name. I just thought what would be the most interesting codename for each of the Mageia releases from Mageia 1 to 5:

      Image

      Mageia 1 would have the codename " Plastic Bubble ", which is that plastic used to protect objects, so the idea that Mageia had a cautious beginning in 2011.

      Mageia 2 would have the alias " Imagination ", representing the creativity to be building a distro with a great community in 2012.

      Mageia 3 would have the alias "Happiness", commemorating the consolidation of distro in 2013, celebrating the success of the third release.

      Mageia 4 would codenamed " Hanami ", a flower festival in Japan (see Hanami at wikipedia or on the site hanami - japan wonderland), representing a collective celebration of maturation of the distro and Mageia community.

      Mageia 5 would codenamed " Cosmos ", representing a seeking to broaden the horizons.

Of course, this is just my imagination. Only the codename "Cantine" is official. All other codnomes I created, just to remind the official wallpapers of each release of Mageia.

The official codename for Mageia 1 - 4 was "thornicroft" which is defined in /etc/lsb-release

Code: Select all
┌─[doktor5000@Mageia5]─[10:46:00]─[~]
└──╼ cat /etc/lsb-release
LSB_VERSION=
DISTRIB_ID="Mageia"
DISTRIB_RELEASE=5
DISTRIB_CODENAME=thornicroft
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Mageia 5"

There have even been bugreports on this in between:
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8587

You might want to follow the discussion on the codename for Mageia 5 on the dev mailing list:

doktor5000,
Interesting, I didn't know. Thank you.
But I did it just to highlight the wallpapers of each release.
