Anybody using Roccat input devices?

Postby doktor5000 » Sep 25th, '13, 11:18

Hi all,

just got my Roccat Kone XTD. Currently looking into the linux tools and setup.
Just wanted to know, if anybody else is using a Roccat mouse and if somebody is interested in the linux tools for it,
so maybe i'd import the relevant packages for Mageia?

FWIW, this is it: http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-M ... -Kone-XTD/
Don't be fooled by the flashy light effects and stuff, after all it's a really robust mouse with a solid build quality.

Are they the ones that actually support linux users, seem to remeber looking at those a while back, on a side note I could do with a mouse.

They any good?

Linux support is provided by a community project: http://roccat.sourceforge.net
Just flashed a new firmware and the control program offers same functionality as under windows, even the adjustable led colors.
Built the necessary packages already for Mageia, so just shout if you're interested. It supports all their models, even Roccat Talk protocol ...

The one I bought could be considered a bit pricey, but thinking about it again, during the last 5 years or so 55€ spent for 3 mice,
it's not that expensive. But also the other models are really good, build quality is also really good.

No problem, here's the whole archive:
http://www.load.to/KJk3H6kuHo/roccat-tools-mga3.zip
Unzip them, and those are the ones you want to install:
Code: Select all
roccat-koneplus roccat-konextd roccat-tools

And then you need to add your user to the roccat group and logout/login.
Then you can use the applet.

For more documentation take a look at http://roccat.sourceforge.net/ or just ask me :D

PS: If you're not on x86_64 just ping again, rebuild for i586 will not take long.

Use it when ever, Built the driver anyway, to impatient

Was quite surprised to see just about everything works on nix same as windows. Thought it may have been less confusing/simple than the windows software.

Got the lights to change colour

It even tells you via libnotify what dpi you change too.

Screeny for those interested

The dev (Stefan Achatz) has certainly done a cracking job(Tips hat). Nice to see Roccat support him too.

Tried any games yet Dok?

Still figuring it all out

Nope, been quite busy yet. Actually only got this one because build quality is pretty solid, and it has at least 5 buttons and nice rubberized surface. Also liked the LEDs :D

Is there a MGA4 rpm for these Doc? Noticed there's a new version to (1.3.0). Dont know if its in the official repos now or not .

If not I'll have a go at doing a updated rpm with the new version when I get MGA4 installed

Will do an mga4 version once I've upgraded and can test. Also didn't look if there's a newer version, as the old one works for everything I need.

If you see a new version, just tell me and I'll update :D
edit doktor5000: Hmmm, nifty - there's 0.22 then 0.23 and then 1.0.0, 1.1.0, 1.2.0 and now 1.3.0 - will take a look ...

Just uploaded all the new packages for 1.3.0 / x86_64 to your FTP. If you also need i586, I have to poke around with iurt a bit.
You only need to regenerate hdlists and update from your repo :D

Another hint: For me strangely profile 5 was the actual profile, so lighting colors changed.
You only need to change again to your default profile (probably 1) and then store to mouse again.

I've updated the directory tree, so have separate ones for mageia 3/4 ;) make life easier I think

Seem to have a permissions problem I think. Added myself to the roccat group an all. config page opens but wont allow writing to the device, root can.
The event-handler don't appear to be working/loading neither.

The rpm for iskufx also failed on "roccat" dependency. Had to do an ldconfig to find libisku.so too.

Do you have the spec file, cant see a source rpm :) was going to investigate! :D

Seems my password for the ftp changed, I'd upload both there. Could you take a look please?

Weird, the only subpackage that requires roccat instead of roccat-tools is the isku subpackage.
Maybe the guy who created the package never used the isku?

Already fixed it.

Like a tit I never updated the ftp acc directory  Try now should be fine, same password as before (I hope)

Thought it was odd, built from source and tried it that way, that sorted the notify on dpi change etc.
Still have the "error creating directory, permission denied" when trying to save a profile to the mouse/keyboard.

Edit: here's a pic

Image
Dos'nt show anything in the console if I run it from there neither. So am kinda stuck.

Sorry for not answering, got that issue too. And reading the INSTALL file again, there is a small error/omission in there.
You want to check the existence and permissions of /var/lib/roccat where it saves profiles systemwide.
Should normally be accessible for members of group roccat, but to make it sure do:
Code: Select all
mkdir -p /var/lib/roccat
chown -R root:roccat /var/lib/roccat
chmod 2770 /var/lib/roccat

The chown -R was added by me, as there was a subdirectory in there owned by root - maybe because I stupidly ran the config tool as root to see if that would workaround the permissions problem.

Also you want to check the permissions on the device nodes themselves, should all be readable and writable by group roccat.
In your case, the first command would probably be iskucontrol -p
Code: Select all
[doktor5000@Mageia3 ~]$ konextdcontrol -p
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.1/usb4/4-1/4-1:1.0/0003:1E7D:2E22.0005/koneplus/roccatkoneplus0
[doktor5000@Mageia3 ~]$ ls -al /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.1/usb4/4-1/4-1:1.0/0003:1E7D:2E22.0005/koneplus/roccatkoneplus0
