KDE release media center for Plasma

I note that the KDE folks have released version 1.0 of the Media Center. it reminds me of moovida visually in the few pictures I saw. Are they related?
Has anyone been doing beta testing with this?

I wonder will it need only newer gear or will it run on older stuff in 32 bits?
