Linuxtag Berlin 2013

Does anyone have plans to goto Linuxtag in Berlin this year?
I've never been to any kind of Linux conference, but this time I've put it in my calender.

Are there any special preferences for where people normally stay during such a conference? I've been looking at some hotels, but haven't decided yet where to stay.

You may want to add your name to the wiki page:

You may want to ask wobo, last year he had a proposal/some kind of special offer for this year.

Last year most of us stayed in http://www.arktur-hotel.de/ it wasn't expensive (50€ per night incl. breakfast) and it allowed you to
sit outside, they have some kind of lounge there directly in front of the hotel, so in the evening and also in the morning it was very comfortable for the smokers :D

Sounds great. I hope I won't be the only booking this hotel. I just made my reservation ;) and they don't have many rooms left...

Last year someone told me they pretend to have less rooms free than they actually do have (to make you feel urged to book fast)
I do plan to go, but I'm not in a hurry to book :-)

Yep, i think they always told "There's only one room left" when there where in fact several rooms still free, only half the hotel was occupied, IIRC ...

Probably standard procedure in the hotel handbook
Nevertheless, I prefer having these things sorted out in advance. I've been checking tickets for the U-Bahn and trains as well.
It's like they say. Luck favors the prepared mind ;)

@ madeye

Is there a chance you'll be able to help with the Mageia stand (talk to people who visit it and such)? If so, please add your name to the table https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Linuxtag_201 ... ndpersonal
You won't have to be at the stand all the time! It would already be great if you could help now and then :)

And, regardless of whether you can help or not, please add your name + country here: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Linuxtag_201 ... Wer_ist_da

I've now booked the hotel, too, btw.

You will not be alone, Magnus already booked rooms at arktur hotel for himself and me. We also know the nearby places to go, so you'll be in good hands. :)

I've added myself to the list, so people can see that I'm attending.
As this is my first linux event ever, I am not sure how much I can help. But I will be at the booth at least some of the time. ;)

Wow, wobo, you make me happy! I'm really glad you'll be there, too! \o/

And madeye, great that you'll be at the booth part of the time :)

I'll give you extra kisses if you do :-D

(Now you also know what to do if you don't like kisses: grow sandpaper on your chin  )

Sounds like we're gonna be some people there :)
I'm looking forward to meeting you all in person.

I'm looking forward, too :-D

@ wobo
Did you feel offended by what I said (and what was meant to be friendly trolling?), or are you just too busy to read this thread? I had expected you to give some very witty reply!

Anyway, thanks for having shaved at Fosdem, even if you didn't get any reward for it, and thanks for being willing to shave and look handsome in Berlin, too. 8-)

Still pondering the options....

Now I understand! You have the perfect reply in mind, but you want to see my startled face when you say it, so you'll wait till you see me at Linuxtag 8-)

Actually all I have in mind is getting out of this in one piece! :)

... and nothing else matters.

The Arktur hotel had said that they'd mail me as soon as they'd receive my transfer, but even after pinging them I hear nothing: neither that they received the money, nor that they did not receive it. :?

I'd call them, and wait in the phone for them to acknowledge the reservation. Fortunately I didn't have this problem. Then again, I'm used to paying with my credit card. ;-)

I think the same happened last year to me, i explicitly asked about a written confirmation about the received transfer via mail.
Never got one, but i still had the reservation, and everything worked without problems.

If you're in doubt, just call them.

Ah, if it happened before, then I'm less worried :-D

They have a different bank account number than last year, btw, because they have new owners.
