Use Android tablet or laptop and Google Voice for VOIP calls

I saw an interesting article in /. today about using VOIP with Android tablets. I don't use the one in the article, I have an Acer Iconia A100 with ICS 4.0.3 in it. I downloaded the mentioned program, set up Google voice in a gmail account with no other uses and made a phone call for free. This works well in the US. I can't say if it will work in Europe or Asia but it is worth trying, I think.

I should mention that I installed two rpms for Fedora into Mageia 2 for this and it worked with my T-23 laptop as well, if you don't have an Android tablet... The Google gmail site offered the rpms to make it work. Look in Chat in gmail for the phone settings.

Cheers,
