Mageia on a virtual machine (Qemu)

Postby lucmars » Nov 27th, '14, 18:32

Hello

I've tried to run Mageia 3 LiveCD on Qemu but I get a black screen after the kernel loading.

The downloaded iso file is this one :
Mageia-3-LiveCD-GNOME-en-i586-CD.iso
the md5sum was ok.

Maybe the Mageia testing version is more suitable for a vm ?

If yes, is there a vmdk file or a qcow file to download.?

Thanks

Update : I've found the Mageia5 beta 1 there http://www.mageia.org/en/5/ though just iso files.

You should take a look at a recent Errata entry: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Err ... _under_KVM
And please use at least current Mageia 4.1 media for testing.

For your other question - to my knowledge, there are no official VM images apart from docker images: http://not403.blogspot.mx/2014/10/offic ... lable.html
Which is not what you want for testing in a VM - but the normal live images should be
Cauldron is not for the faint of heart!
Caution: Hot, bubbling magic inside. May explode or cook your kittens!
