There is a new version of Homerun, Homerun Kicker and just like it sounds it is a menu. Read about it here: http://blogs.kde.org/2014/01/29/homerun-120
There is a Homerun in Mageia 4 but it is not the new version and you'll have to compile it. I don't know if you need the other Homerun but you can install it and have a look. It is a full screen version...reminds me of Metro and before you correct me, remember I've only seen it in pictures and that was enough.
This is a Widget with a background that matches all of the other Widgets!
Here is a link to the tarball: http://download.kde.org/stable/homerun/src/homerun-1.2.0.tar.xz
The instructions are in the file README.md. Basically you need your build environment working and I had to install kdebase4-devel and whatever it tells you it needs.
I did see a Mageia developer or packager on the last page of comments talking about adding it to Mageia but the fact is you can have it today.
Now I have to figure out Widget backgrounds, transparency etc...I think I used to know. Install kde4-style-oxygen-transparent, that'll get ya going.
You'll have to change the icon size to make it just a icon, otherwise it is about 4 inches wide. I think this was a default configuration error in KDE so it won't mess everything else up by changing it.
Icon size setting. The option is located in System Settings > Application Appearance > Icons > Advanced > Panel
The icon size for the Panel is set to 256! Change it to 32 and apply. I also had to remove/replace the Widget but a
logout/login may have done it.
On the left of the menu is favorite apps, just right click a program in the Homerun Menu and add to favs...took me a while to do that, too easy. I know some distros get stuff before Mageia but it is always (almost) possible to add them and I'll help you if I can. Get your compiler etc installed and it should be painless.
To resize it grab the top right corner and drag...makes room for more favorites. I'm not sure how you configure what is in the main part of the menu but it looks highly configurable.
