how to remove weird hippy glitch art on bootup with radeon

if you have an old computer with an old radeon mobility card, chances are, when you boot up Mageia (or any distro that uses the newest kernel), you'll experience trippy hippy rainbow glitch art when your system boots up. The solution is as follows:

    Open Mageia Control Center

    Go to "Boot"

Click on "Set up boot system"

    Click "Next"

    Click "Modify"

On the "Append" text input box, change "splash" to "nosplash"

    Click "finish"

That's it. The reason you have to take out the boot splash entirely instead of simply setting "nomodeset" in the kernel args is because radeon changed their drivers to be KMS only, so once the mode is set in bootup, you cannot change it back.
