Look under "Source Code"

As this is a Support question I'll move it to Basic Support.

And welcome to the forum.

Netflix player

Postby mabari » May 25th, '15, 22:06

Hi,

I'm trying to get Netflix working on Mageia 5 by following the instructions of digigold (from 2013). The very first instruction is to download Netflixplayer.tar.gz but it seems like sourceforge no longer has this download. I've tried googling for this file but it always ends up at sourceforge.

Any suggestions how to get this gz would be much appreciated.

Hi digigold

I know its been a while since you posted these instructions, but are you aware that Netflixplayer.tar.gz is no longer on sourceforge?

Do you know how I can get t from somewhere else?

Thanks for all your help.

Is it really necessary to post this two times, once inside the collection thread and once in a separate new thread? Merged into collection thread.

I'm using Pipelight (http://pipelight.net/) nowadays. It seems to be approximately the same thing, except you don't need to use a WINE version of Firefox (you can use any x86 Linux browser that supports the Netscape plugins API (that's basically any popular browser except Chromium and derivatives)) and I've actually been able to get Pipelight to work.

I've split the pipelight installation questions into a different thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9834

This solution should really be updated with the fact that there is no longer any need to install anything to view Netflix on a Mageia v.X.x.x system. All you need to install is the Google Chrome browser. It works really well and no need to install any of these extra pieces of software. I am not sure if it works with Chromium, but certainly with the Chrome browser, I have not had any problems with it working.

Go to this thread if you would like to add the Google Chrome repositories to your MCC and it will always be updated when new versions appear. [https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=2053]
