Dear Mageia buddies,
Hi. Thus i would like to try on mate on Mageia 2 or perhaps on Mageia 3 beta 1. I wondered
if I use these codes I wrote down below as root by using the terminal?
"urpmi mate-core"
and
"urpmi mate-desktop-environment"
Should I use some special repository ? or Mageia cauldron repository? I've heard it's possible to install the Mate by using the Mageia Greece repository.
I appreciate your helpful hints. Are there another steps or could you point me out a handy tutorial to assist me to install it?

Mate seems to be available for cauldron, directly from core/release repository.
And there seems to be no tutorial available so far. What you probably want to install is

Code: Select all

urpmi mate-common

and see if this gives you already the option on login screen to select Mate.

Surely, Isadora.Please Apologize me but I forgot to write "solved". In Mageia Brazil we put an icon to mean "solved".I wish best times for 2013 too!

I haven't installed yet. Later on I will put the results and how mate is working and looking at my desktop. For the moment, I can show one snapshot of another user at the Mageia Brazil called "xgrind" who installed sucessfully by using the Mageia Greece repository at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1985 You can view the nice Mate desktop on Mageia at http://forum.mageiabr.org/viewtopic.php ... &start=110

Interesting, just had a look at the Greece repository, and found not one mate package. May you ask that user to post a list of packages he installed?

should list relevant packages.

Just one little quirk: mate-appearance is burning your cpu-cores ... After using it, you have to kill the process manually ....

Dear doctor5000. I misunderstood. That's right It's the russian Mageia repositories.He made this tutorial at http://www.sempreupdate.com.br/2012/12/ ... ageia.html . Thus, I will place it at Mageia Brazil wiki later on.

Managed to install? The only problems I found were the Caja file manager preferences, and notifications, and had to install the Xfce.
