Mageia 7 & VMware Workstation 14.1.1

I always approach upgrades of my workstation with a great deal of trepidation; it never goes smoothly. This isn't Mageia's fault; my platform deviates a long way from a stock Mageia installation, and I always have to do work to get everything running after an upgrade.

The show-stopper for me is VMware Workstation. It is absolutely essential for me that Workstation properly start after an upgrade; if it doesn't, I either have to drop everything until I have fixed it or (as has happened before) I have to roll the upgrade back in order to have a working Workstation environment.

So.

Has anyone here upgraded to Mageia 7, then had VMware Workstation 14.1.1 work correctly? If you did the upgrade and had problems, could you provide a link to the required kernel driver patches for Workstation? I can and have created those patches myself in the past, but it takes a lot of work and I have other things to do...

Thanks, to anyone who can answer.

Follow the guidelines from de MGA6 wiki page:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installing_V ... n_Mageia_6
or from the creator of the patches: https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host ... er/INSTALL
For the kernel driver patches, check: https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host ... 1.1.tar.gz and substitute your version in place of the 14.1.1 version mentioned here. I did so for 15.1.0. which matches my version on win10 (v1903).

Thank you for that. I did not know that repository existed. It must have come into existence since the last time I had to do this.

I also did not realize that the latest version of 14 was 14.1.7, but it is. I am now updating, and the provided patches should take me to the latest kernel.

One more barrier to upgrading to Mageia 7 is now checked off.
