Boot a non-Linux/Windows ISO using GRUB2

Postby hduff » Jan 15th, '26, 15:05

Using the older GRUB, I was able to boot ISO images, but that now seems problematic. I would like to do that under GRUB2, but that does not seem intuitive or maybe not even possible. I know there are examples of booting ISOs that contain Linux kernels or Windows bootloaders for GRUB2, but I have seen none for booting other ISOs.

As an example, booting FALCONFOUR’S ULTIMATE BOOT CD

Has anybody accomplished this? Have a link that gives an example? The links I find are for the earlier version of GRUB.

And . . . I want to do this because I have a need to do this.

What's your actual issue with that, and why do you think it's not possible?
There are dozens of tutorials for that, even a thread here in the forums: https://forums.mageia.org/en/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14519
