Hello there,
Just a ignorant question that i couldn't find the answer, are the package names will be just like mandriva did or like fedora? It would be good if mageia goes like fedora's package names so it would ease the hunt for packages while installing non supported softwares...

Since Mageia is a fork of Mandriva, at least initially, Mandriva package naming is being used.

oh ok! thanks for the help. I only asked because most of open source software that aren't known and stuff use fedora or RHEL or CentOS or ubuntu as development platform. So it would be great in the future that Mageia get a Red HAt based packaging name...

Well, given the fact that almost all Mageia packages/devs were (some time contribute to Mandriva) Mandriva packages, the naming schema/philosophy/logic is almost unchanged.
FWIW, each distro has a different naming schema, however it's not too hard to find packages using any distro package manager.
