Well July 3rd is still a few weeks away.
Just kidding, planed release of the first alpha was June 3rd but it has been delayed.
So be patient and welcome to Mageia.

It was a test about the release date! I'd like to work around that project as Ubuntu is getting as too much commercial distro, Mint is good but already "well-formed" and Mageia has all the potential (it's already 3th of the Distrowatch's list) to go over the top.

New development releases are usually announced in the blog:
http://blog.mageia.org/en/or in the Forum:
viewforum.php?f=15When they are available, development iso's can be downloaded from the iso/cauldron directory on a Mageia mirror, such as:
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu ... /cauldron/A list of Mageia mirrors is here:
http://mirrors.mageia.org/and the current status of the mirrors is here:
http://mirrors.mageia.org/statusIf the anticipated release date is changed, then the new release date is usually indicated in the planning summary:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_5_DevelopmentJim

Please next time do not use fullquotes, but only use the Reply function. Greatly improves clarity and reading flow

For information how to become a mirror, see

Dear tarakbumba,
thank you, but I would like to do that from a clean-installation, not as update.

That is a bit trickier, as you need to enter the mirror and URL manually. Check
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Installation ... k_Installs for boot media for cauldron.

Hi doktor5000,
did you mean it's available but still not packed as ISO? I checked the link you suggested above for it.
(Cheers)

There is no full installer media like with the normal release media. Check one of the available cauldron images and see for yourself.

dok,
just to clarify, I am speaking about that (thanks)
When they are available, development iso's can be downloaded from the iso/cauldron directory on a Mageia mirror, such as:
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu ... /cauldron/

No clue from where you're quoting or what your actual question is. The link I've posted mentions:
You can perform network installs using either boot.iso or all.img, you can find them on the mirrors in <mirror url>/Mageia/distrib/cauldron/$ARCH/install/images/
So for example with distrib-coffee as mirror that would be
ftp://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pu ... ll/images/

It's impressive the small size of that images... they look like the Puppy Linux

The boot.iso doesn't need to be large. It only loads a kernel and establishes a network connection to the mirror. The installer itself is downloaded from the mirror.

Dear Jim,
thanks the boot-nonfree ISO is the one with the 3th part for no-free packages also? It is the most complete image?

I am using the MultiBoot USB 2.0 to burn the image but it doesn't work for both (free and not).

Did you use the boot.iso or boot.img?
The iso works for me the img does not.
The -nonfree images have some propitiatory hardware drivers used to get the installer running, they have no affect on what is installed.
If you do a network install be prepared for failures.
The reason being that updates in Cauldron are pushed to the core repositories replacing older versions so if version 1.0 of a critical package was found and scheduled for install but is replaced by version 1.1 before 1.0 could be downloaded installation will fail.
BTW: I see that the release of alpha-1 has been rescheduled for July 8.

Dear Ken,
I am using the ISO image file but it is not recognized by the tool (when I click to create it, the image simply disappear). 8 July? It's really late...

I just checked the
wiki and the tool you're using is known not to work, try one of the ones known to work.

Dear Ken,
it is one of the suggested:
A sourceforge project
multibootusb, a tool for several Linux distros or Windows versions, uses the Grub4dOS bootloader (and Gambas3).
Why that distro it isn't compatible with the Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.5.3? It's just a curiosity of mine... what is the different from that distro and the others supported?

If you read farther down under "Other LiveUSB Methods (currently not working)" you'll find
"A sourceforge project multibootusb, a tool for several Linux distros or Windows versions, uses the Grub4dOS bootloader (and Gambas3)."

Thanks to all for the great feedbacks... what a community indeed!

Did you can also suggest me a Windows tool to deploy the image into an USB 16Gb stick? The suggested one is not working with the online images.

"is not working" is not a clear problem description. What is not working? Which image did you use? What error message did you get from usbdumper?
What about the offered alternatives?
