I used urpmi to upgrade from Mageia 3 to 4 and it was the least painful upgrade I've ever done.
Thanks to all involved in the Mageia 4 release.

Amen -- an on-line upgrade with no problems despite warnings of possible bugs. I know there was a lot of work on this, so many KUDOs all round. Thank you all.
Big improvement after update.

Yes, upgrading was relatively painless. Startup time seems faster than M3 and all settings, etc. seem to be working without issue. Main problem involves kwrite(crashing), gwenview(crashing when trying to print). Tried to install kate for text files-no joy found there either(crashes). So to create and edit text files I have used libre office or wine notepad. But leafpad works without having to install a bunch of dependencies. Interestingly enough, kwrite and kate will work normally when started from the command line, just not through the GUI. Somewhere else I have read that this might be a problem with nvidia drivers.

yes, installing strace and putting "strace kwrite" in the "open with" dialog and making that the default seems to be working, at least for kwrite.

No need to mention it here again as it's already in the Errata:

I just upgraded from Mageia 3 to 4 a few moments ago. I installed Mageia 3 last week. Then got the message of mageia 4 on feb 1st.

Although not recommended due to time, I did the update wirelessly. I had no issues at all. It took more than an hour. I didn't pay attention to the time. I did some thngs around the house, did some browsing and deletion of some desktop icons and watched some news feeds while it was upgrading , When it was complete, it told me there are no issues and to reboot my system. No problems at all after reboot.
