Mageia 2 will be based on mandriva 2011 or continue on his way with the 2010.2 version?

The initial development was based on Mandriva but Mageia will go its own way now.

How interesting. : o

I guess that means as time passes, it'll be so different that it can't be considered to be based off of anything. xD
Sort of, at least.

Depends on what you mean by "based off". If you mean the historical evolution it will always be an offspring of Mandriva which is an offspring of Red Hat (see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... c/Gldt.svg ), same as Suse is an offspring of Slackware and Ubuntu an offspring of Debian.

If you mean "based off" in terms of "depending on" this will change over the time. Mandriva became independent after a short time, developping its own tools. Mageia 1 is almost 100% Mandriva, cleaned, updated, with own artwork. We will see how it will go on its own way. One thing is for sure, it is independent from Mandriva already because Mandriva's development goes in a different direction even now (rpm5, RosaLabs, etc.).

Some other distributions stay connected or even depending on their "mother", like Ubuntu (Debian) and PCLOS (Mandriva). I think this is not the way Mageia will go.
