Hi!

On the Mageia 4 (Cauldron) Errata Page https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Errata:

UEFI is not yet supported out of the box, but needs some extra steps:

For those extra steps:

Hi,

thanks.

Why is so difficult to have UEFI out-of-the-box on Mageia ?

Use the DVD version (not live) with UEFI will be possible or not ?

Greetings.

Hi,

I saw the How-To about UEFI.

I will be interested to use UEFI but with the classical DVD. Then, is it possible to install Mageia 4 via classical DVD if the UEFI is activated on the computer ?

The How-To gives 2 or 3 methods but it will not be easy for newbies. :(
I think that Mageia must have UEFI support out-of-the-box.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

I just want to tell you that I tested Uefi support on Mageia 4 with GPT partition table and it works on my laptop (no secure boot enabled). As said in the Uefi howto, there is some errors on start, but the installation works (not in graphical mode, but only in text mode). I used the classical DVD version on a DVD. No problems during installation, and when I restarted the system. But I noticed some freeze (when I try to log on my session (lightdm manager), or when I close my session. I must use CTRL+ALT+Backspace sometimes). For information, I use Cinnamon desktop, and Nouveau driver is installed.

Hi,

as I said before, the "experimental" UEFI support on Mageia 4 works. The only drawback is that the installation is only available in text mode. Is there a possibility (tip) to have the graphic mode for the installation with UEFI (for classical DVD support) ?

Thanks.
